Covid-19 Catch Up Premium
Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.
Fair is everybody getting what they need to be successful; this does not always mean everybody requires the same support.
Ultimately, the purpose of the Pupil Premium funding is to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. The Government believes that provision of the Pupil Premium is the best way in which to address underlying inequalities between children, with the aim of closing the educational attainment gap which currently exists between each of pupils from poorer families, those with parents in the Armed Forces, Looked-After Children, and their better-off peers. Government documents may refer to such pupils as 'disadvantaged'.
Who is entitled to the Pupil Premium?
Sports Premium
The PE and Sports Premium is a ring-fenced grant for primary schools to improve the quality of PE, sport and physical activity. Since 2013, schools have received funding based on pupil numbers.
